Born and raised in Wuhan, China, Claire Ye first became passionate with drawing and painting at the age of five. Throughout her childhood she was often reprimanded for paying more attention to her art than to her studies. By the age of ten, she had taught herself the traditional art of Chinese brush painting.

Her continued passion toward her art convinced her parents to hire private training under the renowned artist Hong Xu Guang at the age of twelve.

Her outstanding talents and numerous awards led her to receive the Hubei Provincial Government's Outstanding Achievement Award in Art Design and Fashion Design. This led to two successive scholarships to the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts.

After graduation, Claire taught full time at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, one of the premier educational institutions in China. Her classes have been very popular on campus, with some classes registering over 200 students per class!

During her summer and winter breaks, Claire pursued careers in fashion, advertising and broadcast design. At one point traveling throughout the western frontiers of China, photographing the various minority groups in China. Her show of the photographs received the Silver Award for her photography from Wuhan University.

But she has never stopped painting. Since 1989, Claire has been painting and selling her work to collectors from around the world from her studio in Wuhan and now in Palos Verdes Estates, California.

Her work has recently been awarded the grand prize three times at various Southern California artist groups, and was featured in the television program Art TV.

She recently completed a solo exhibition at Art Attack Gallery in Long Beach, California and her work has been selling well.

Claire enjoys sharing her culture, art and language with others by hosting classes for children and adults.
